My beautiful Mother's Day Vintage brooch from Elizabeth Q.

Guess what I did right before we left for Church this morning?
I waited until this morning to open my swap package. I was so excited! Wow!

Elizabeth wrote the dearest note that my brooch belonged to her Mother who was the loving and Godly women.
Oh my, I sure don't feel worthy. How blessed I am and I'll treasure the beautiful bouquet with four little pearls. I have exactly four family treasures and they are the jewels of my life....(My husband, two daughters and son).



My husband took this photo so that I could show Elizabeth and everyone how
it looks and how it made me happy. I think it looked good on my pink jacket with my
pearl head band. I'm experimenting with hairstyles...
it's been 20 years with a short hair style..trying something new.



Elizabeth's presentation was so awesome. Everything!! The brooch was pinned on a dainty cotton cloth bag filled with lavender. Yep...smelled it for days before I opened it. Oh my, how did she know I love lavender? And then she also tucked a vintage hankie and Burpee Sunflower seeds.
Patty in Oz can't wait to plant those. Never too many sunflowers for this gal and varieties I can't wait to see!
Thank you so very much Elizabeth Q. for the sweet swap and of course Linda too. It sure makes my heart smile and too...to have a new friend to share my journey with.
This will be a memorable Mother's day!

I found the little Vintage 'Fancy Hat' brooch at an antique mall in Olathe, KS and purchased for Elizabeth.

The sparkle on the rim of the brooch has scattered glitter enclosed and the top of the hat is made of a 'screen' type material. The pearl was the perfect touch.

My new friend and swap partner Elizabeth shared that her favorite flowers were tulips and irises...
tucked in a few blank cards and a sweet little hankie with blue tulips.
Because it is Mother's Day...I added a Holy card with the Madonna and Christ child.
Elizabeth shared she really likes the book marker...as she likes to read.



Isn't the card art pretty? I do say so myself. I love how the blue and purple look together.
Ever since I can remember, I've thought purple irises smell like grape juice.
I wonder if I'm the only one who ever thought that?

The above is a writing I just love to share for Mother's day. I want to add that in my opinion, having a mother is as glorious as being one. Our Moms chose life. Also, this weekend is a wonderful time to thank those who have been like a mother in our lives. A phone call or note can be VERY meaningful. Remember too, Our Heavenly Mother Mary loves you...go to her in prayer and ask for her intercession. She will not let you down I promise.

Heartfelt thanks to my dear friend Phyllis who sent me the cutest card (photo art above). She and I served on Cursillo #99 in March and had such an awesome time.

This card sure tickled me pink because we did have some very fun days with the bears before they went off to their new homes.  Yes, love bears all things. The socks...ummm....maybe they were knocked off?

'Wizard of Oz' altered hand bag

Check out my new 'altered' hand bag...it's was both fun and easy!

When I found this purse at the new antique mall in Delano Square, I really liked the fabric photo and came up with an idea to alter it. The beads dangling and fluffy stuff had to quickly removed....not my style! My idea was to use some of the pretty yo yo's I had on hand. Don't pretty little fabric O's make you smile?

Carefully I laid out the exact number of pretty yo yos that were needed to cover the top of each side. As you may notice, I did the second row in reverse so that the colors would go all the way around.

The next step took me the longest. I dug deep in my old button tin and picked out the prettiest red buttons I could find. Carefully I sewed one on each of the yo yos.

The 'P' trinket prettied up the front yo yo along with the lace and a heart bling.

Carefully I attached each yo yo onto the top of each side of my hand bag with my 'very hot' glue gun. The little red ruby slippers are the cutest. They didn't fit any of our grand daughters or me so they took 1st step...1st place in my Wizard of Oz collection of stuff.

As you can see...I'm having fun.

Spring Cursillo #99...DeColores!



We brought the roosters out on Saturday afternoon on the Cursillo weekend.
What a pretty view out my window. God is so good.

Hello friends! I want to share a little bit about how God is working in my life. Life has been very full this past month with work and other responsibilities...I'm excited to get back to blooming in Kansas and keeping memories making new posts. Soon I will share about the next N2God art class. Oh it's going to be fun and different. And yes...I can't wait to catch up on what you've all been up to.

 

When Sally asked me back in November 2010 to serve on the Spring Cursillo, I was excited to be asked. Serving God, there isn't any thing I'd rather do more.  I began planning ahead and am so happy how God brought everything together. All I can say is "Wow!"

Because I serve on several different ministries...I had a 'big' bunch of ideas (and the best ladies in the world helped me put some of them together). Thank you! Joan, Phyllis, Mary, Becky, Diane, Lil, Starla and Chaloe had so many wonderful gifts to bring such as prayers and the cord rosaries in little pouches...so pretty! I wish I would have thought to take a photo of every item.You will see in the photos some of items God gave us to share on this Cursillo. The best gift we all gave is our love and prayers.
 

 

Years ago my 'three day Cursillo walk was an awesome time of fun, discovery and learning many building blocks to have a wonderful 'best friend' relationship with Christ. From what I could see, all of these ladies certainly had wonderful experience. My part on the team was to serve in the background (in the MOST amazing place). A few of us just didn't have the opportunity to get to know the ladies over the Cursillo walk. That's OK....we look forward to getting to know them in the coming year. I'm sorry...I didn't get permission to post pictures of anyone. Have some cute ones of us in our aprons.

Mini fabric collage arrived! Wait till you see what Mary made!

What a wonderful afternoon in spite of the weather breaking low temps in Wichita, Kansas! I came home to find a package from Mary (my swap partner) for the http://www.aswapforallseasons.blogspot.com
'Mini fabric collage swap'. Mary and I finished our projects a bit earlier and our plan had the perfect timing for they both arrived one day apart. Yep, we couldn't have planned it better except it has taken me longer to make my post. Mary has an amazing blogspot.. you'll want to visit her at -http://jmppastimes.blogspot.com I am very blessed to have her my new friend! She and I both didn't take photos of our collages so we are making up for it now. Actually this is one of my favorite parts of swaps...getting to know someone new and discovering their uniqueness. She a jewel!

Now...my favorite word for my collage is 'dreamy'! When I looked at it again this morning I discovered even more details.

Thank you Mary, your the best to show and tell about the one I made for  her and honestly I enjoyed 'putting it all together'...that made my heart smile. It was a bit of a challenge...I didn't know where to start or where to end because I don't work very much with fabrics. I think that the one Mary made is SO much prettier than mine.

Mary tucked in some little surprises....candy kisses and I needed to use my magnifying glass to read the notes on the cards...I was entertained for quite a spell. Mary tied them with a string attached to the little matchbox...how clever is that?

The fabric collage was wrapped in a music song sheet titled 'FUN, FUN, FUN' by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and stamped 'Happy St. Valentine's day!' in red ink.

I gently attached the cross on the stone.

Did you find the little sweet white antique doll shoe sewed on under the blue bow? Hmmm...what little girl dressed up her doll with those years ago I wonder...
I really like how she (stamped?) the word angel in the old type face!

Isn't that the prettiest red stone pin and cross? My second shot on my lunch break was so much better! I'll happily wear it on a suit and for sure on my Valentine's day sweater and return it to it's home (the collage) when I'm not showing it off...ha, ha. Red to remind me of Mary's St. Valentine's surprise! I love the Rosary beads...you may be wondering....? I have a special devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary. A little explanation, Catholics don't pray to Mary, we pray for her intercession because we believe she is the greatest Saint.  My husband pointed out the beads are made of olive wood.

In all the different quilt patterns, Mary's collage included my favorite pattern....the double wedding ring! How in the world...what are the chances that my favorite pattern would be included in her collage made for me? That's what's truly amazing...when God grants you the desires of your heart because He really knows you love Him and He loves all of us so. I can't thank Mary enough. She make my heart smile over and over again!
